Sightseeing

We cannot wait to finally see you in Sieraków but, as we guess, you are not a frequent visitor in Poland, right? This is why we are going to take you to Poznañ, a beautiful city, full of students like you and us, which became our hometown during last years of studing and being members of ELSA. We are going to take care of your souls and bodies, eyes and ears, stomaches and heads. So let us show you around...

The Town Hall
The Town Hall, situated in the middle of the market square, is one of the most recognizable places in Poznan. Why? For students it is a kind of “meeting place” where all girls and boys hang out to tour around the clubs on Friday evening. For tourists it is a sixteenth-century building designed by Giovanni Battista with monumental facade and three-tower attic and its basement housing the Museum of the History of Poznan. But for all people the most special thing about the Town Hall is its clock with effigies of goats. Every noon, as the clock strikes twelve, small doors on the top of the highest tower open to show two goats hitting each other with horns twelve times. Sounds dangerous? You cannot leave Poznan not seeing it!

Culture Center “The Castle”
Centrum Kultury “Zamek” is a former, emperor residence. As a culture center it is one of the biggest institutions of this kind in Poland. Every year Zamek holds about 700 events like: exhibitions, concerts, movie and theater shows, meetings and educational workshops. This 100-year-old building places an art gallery, cinema, auditorium, sometimes theater. Subject events regard to artists or cultures of others nations. It all makes Zamek a center of popularising culture around Poznañ. Its programme is addressed to a wide range of audience: young and older, male and female. We would like you to taste some of our cultural life too.

Parish Church of St Stanislaus
Something for your eyes and your soul. We call it just “Fara” but it is one of the most monumental baroque churches in Poland. Richly decorated with breath-taking sculptures and paintings. Sound of its 19th-century organs, height of the main nave (27 metres!) and attendance of saints’ souls will make you shiver.

Ostrów Tumski. The Cathedral Island
It was one of the first major centres of the Piast Dynasty state. This is where the first Polish bishopric was established in 968. The famous Golden Chapel became the mausoleum of Mieszko I and Bolesław the Brave, the first sovereigns of Poland. Take a bow to their monuments.

The Liberty Square
Centre of the city placed near to the old market. Surrounded by Raczyñski Library and its classicistic veneer, National Musem with masterpieces’ collection, legendary Bazar Hotel, building placing EMPiK, Sephora and British Consulate. It is a place of cultural and sport events such as art exhibitions, beach volleyball matches, transmissions of European and World Football Championships when games are being watched from stand and the atmosphere is much hotter than while watching match on tv at home. Also great training area for skaters and bmx-riders.

The Lech Brewery
Think of a golden liquid with a bit of bubbles and froth, which tastes rather bitter and imagine you are already in Poznañ... you know what I mean? Yes! I am talking about beer! But it is not just an usual beer – it is Lech Beer, the most popular, precious and desired drink here. Before you try it for the first time, we are going to take you to The Lech Trip Center to let you discover the process of producing this golden beverage in the brewhouse – the beating heart of the Brewery. Inside, check out if 17 bottles and 27 cans can be filled in just one second! Try your best and make a beer on your own, sign in electronic guest book and take a picture against a backround of The Lech Beer logo. Find out what copper ladles and boilers and huge green cans overlooking The Brewery are for. Head rush guaranted!
