Sieraków Commune is located in the north–west of Greater Poland, within 75 km from Poznan. It is situated on the border of Noteć Forest, in the Warta River basin, within the area of the Sieraków Landscape Park. It is a region with exceptional tourist and recreational values. Numerous, picturesquely located, amidst extensive forests, clean lakes encourage legions of tourists and holidaymakers.

In 1251 the name of Sieraków is mentioned for the first time. In 1358 the town was granted civic right. A parish church dating to 1619, with the picture “Deposition from the Cross” of a famous Flemish painter Artus Wolffort, is a “pearl of Sieraków”. There are also stalls of rare beauty from 1641. In 1995 one wing of the old castle was rebuilt and the sarcophaguses of Opaliński family were located there. Exhibitions of painting and sculpture as well as concerts of classical music are cyclically organized in the Opaliński Castle Musem. Apart from this, the Stallion Stud operates in Sieraków for nearly 180 years. You can find here two Polish breeds of horses: the Wielkopolski and the Konik (Polish: konik polski). Tourists may admire the horses, take a ride on horseback or a carriage. What is more, they can visit the old coach-house and see the harness collection.

The WRZOS leisure resort area

There are many lakes on the territory of the commune: Lutomskie (the largest one – 173 ha), Kłosowskie (138 ha), Śremskie (118 ha), Barlin (103 ha), Jaroszewskie (92 ha), Ławickie (90 ha). The deepest lake is Lake Śremskie (45 m in depth). Sieraków is a centre of the Sieraków Landscape Park, founded in 1991 in order to protect unique post-glacial landscape, with a great number of moraine hills, lakes, streams and dense forests. Numerous and well maintained excursion and tourist routes give an opportunity to get familiar with local nature attractions such as: clean lakes, rich flora and wild animals. The sports-recreational base is really well developed. There is a complex of holiday resorts and training centres between Lutomskie Lake and Jaroszewskie Lake.
